Sign Here Signs was commissioned by Coles Group to design, manufacture and install retail signage at their flagship stores – Coles Supermarket and Liquorland.
This project required us to draw on our diverse signage skillset, to manufacture and install high quality signage solutions alongside Perth builders, Credentia Constructions.
Our team completed the work on budget, in time for the store’s grand opening. Liquorland adopted a fresh style of signage for their new location, and this was the first time it was revealed to the public.
Scope of works
The project required us to architecturally clad a 12 metre and 16 metre pylon, with illuminated lightboxes on both faces.
Credentia Constructions was engaged to build the base structure of the pylons, while we designed and manufactured subframes for cladding the pylon. This included constructing a door in the larger pylon for access to the substation within it.
The Coles Supermarket signage required raised fabricated letters that stood off from the panels, with red halo illumination emitting from the face and side. Main lightboxes were also produced for both of the store’s internal bulk head signage.
We also manufactured and installed 20mm opal acrylic indicial illuminated signage (face and side lit) for the Coles Supermarket Click and Collect signage. And we completed under awning tenancy lightboxes and statutory signage for the builder.
Finally, signage for the Liquorland store featured more than 12-linear metres of lightboxes, with flexface banners and internal illumination.
Retail signage crew
This project was highly varied in scope, which meant many different trades, and other experts, were required to ensure each component was meticulously crafted and installed.
Our team included crane operators, riggers, welders, metal and plastic fabricators and laser and router operators. Plus, vinyl applicators, an electrician, as well as supervisors and project managers from our amazing administrative team.
Interesting facts
It was not typical for our team to work alongside a builder to develop pylons for a project. However, we were happy to work with Credentia Constructions, who did a fantastic job building the main pylon structures.
The pylons were clad in 8mm EQUITONE panels, which are designed to showcase the untreated, raw texture of the fibre cement material. This architecturally designed panelling was used to clad the main building. Signage blades were also installed on the panels (and manufactured in-house).
Transporting the two pylons created an interesting challenge, as both were too large to transport safely. We troubleshot this by constructing and fitting the pylon frames at our factory, then transporting them to site for installation.
That’s a wrap!
This was a satisfying project for our team, and we’re proud of the signage we designed, manufactured and installed for Coles Group. Big thanks to Credentia Constructions and project management consultants, Wallace PM.
